A Gift

Having been married twice, I completely understand a Bride's need for an event coordinator. I happen to do it on a daily basis now, but at the time, I didn't know who (or not) to call when it came to the vendors I needed. My first wedding, I researched all of the vendors and the second - I went with the package deal - hey, I was busy! I made a lot of mistakes and wasted a lot of money - but the worst was that I didn't have anyone watching out for me! I know that everytime I see the cake knife the venue gave me - with the other wedding couples names on it - I made some mistakes. It is a remider of what minor things can go wrong at a wedding. But, I also know everyone has a budget and it is a costly service that some would consider a luxury. As far as that point goes, I don't feel that it is a luxury anymore but more of a necessity. But, again, I understand - as I paid for those two wedding myself and carefully budgeted each paycheck for a year. Because of those budgets, I have always thought that it would be a great gift to give to a bride whether by a family member or a truly special one from her groom. But, today, I was contacted by a Maid of Honor requesting info for her friend. She wanted to gift my services to her friend whose father is currently in hospice. Having lost my own father, my heart sunk. If I can think of any other time to book planner services, it would be then. A planner is going to free up your time - prescious time that can be spent with loved ones while in hospice. Even more true, a planner can work fast and produce a wedding within a very short period of time. This is the case for military brides as well. We know that you have so little time and it may seem overwhelming. With a planner - we know the right vendor to call for your buget, we know how to negotiate appropriate discounts, and what needs to be accomplished in a short period of time. The only way we differ from a bride - the planning is not an emotional decision. We are focused on your needs and what works best for your event. Especially, if you need handicap access or an on site nurse. Even though I know you need us, I also know that it may not be in your wedding budget to hire us. But, the gift of a wedding coordinator - is truly priceless.
